The new cycle of school activities of SOUxOstuni, a school of architecture for children born from a Farm Cultural Park project that educates the new generations to be more demanding citizens, will start on 18 September. This year’s theme will be “Human Forrest”, that is, the rethinking of a new urban eco-system.
A wonderful experience, unique of its kind, born four years ago in Favara (AG) and now also landed in Puglia, thanks to the synergy of Officine Tamborrino – a brand that designs and produces metal furniture for residential use and for spaces open to sharing – which makes its environments and expertise available to contribute to the teaching activity and to the same vision. In fact, Officine Tamborrino has always wanted to replicate SOU in Ostuni to also give its territory a great resource for growth and spread the culture of the project among the very young, a true and unique heritage for a better planet. The school, for children aged 7 to 12, specializes in educational activities related to urban planning, architecture, the environment, community building, art, design, urban agriculture and food education .
SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE: FROM FAVARA TO OSTUNI
Three keywords: imagination, culture and responsibility. Licio Tamborrino, CEO of Scaffsystem, parent company of Officine Tamborrino, states: “I believe that a project of this type is of great value for our territory as well as for any city. Children must be put back at the center of our attention and must be cultivated like plants with love and nourishment “. This is why on Tuesday 4 August, at 6.00 pm, the company will host a presentation meeting in which it will be possible to better understand the experience of the school through videos, stories but above all the words of Andrea Bartoli, founder of Farm Cultural Park and SOU, and of Marco Imperadori, professor at the Politecnico di Milano and honorary member of the scientific committee of SOU. A multidisciplinary educational project that will bring together architects, urban planners, landscape architects, botanists, artists, anthropologists, sociologists, doctors and jurists to educate SOU’s young students on the value of good cultural, environmental and civic practices for the well-being of people and communities.
SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE: THE PROGRAM
To direct the activities related to the theme of the academic year 2020-21, the designer Sara Mondaini, who, flanked by a young team who will follow the children and the workshops with her, will decline the annual theme, the lesson plan and select the teachers from the Apulian and national territory. An architecture school designed to train the younger generations to be more aware and responsible citizens: its goal is in fact to accustom children to freedom of thought, the magic of creativity, the desire to make the impossible possible and to make their dreams come true. . Such as? Stimulating reflection, planning and action for the improvement of society, but also promoting and educating to values of welcome, participation, tolerance and solidarity, generosity and social commitment.
